WTF IS A CANNABINOID?
THC, CBD, THCV, CBN... WTF, amirite? Over 100 different cannabinoids have been identified in the cannabis plant. The most popular, of course, is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the belle of the ball since it’s responsible for that classic cannabis “high.” You’ve also likely heard of cannabidiol (or CBD) since more research is being done to learn about the full range of benefits it offers. But what about the other cannabinoids? Do you even need to know about them? We think so, and we’ll dive into some of the most talked-about ones below. Here’s a fun fact you can tell your friends: Non-intoxicating cannabinol (AKA CBN, AKA the sleepy cannabinoid) is created when THC ages. So that old nug in the back of your stash just might be your key to a good night’s rest. What is a Cannabinoid? Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found within the cannabis plant. The acid forms of these compounds, like THCA and CBDA, are naturally synthesized within the plant. Through a process called decarboxylation, these cannabinoids are converted to the forms that we are most familiar with, like THC and CBD. Decarboxylation is achieved either slowly over time through the drying and curing process, or quickly via heat. What is THC? When you think of THC, you’re probably thinking about delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the most common form of THC. But have you heard of delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol? We call delta-8 “THC-Light” due to its mellow high (compared to delta-9). I tried out the new Delta-8 Lemon Cake LOUD+CLEAR cart while I was hanging out with friends and the first reaction was how tasty it is (thanks to terpene-rich live resin); and second, after passing it back and forth for a while, was how clear-headed we all felt while still feeling SUUUUUUPER comfortable. Sometimes I can get a little anxious with THC, but delta-8 felt like a perfect daytime vaping option for me without getting trapped in my head wondering if I’m acting weird. Anyone else? No? Yeah, me either. What is CBD? CBD has been getting a lot of attention due to the growing body of clinical research being performed. There are a [...]
